Travemuende Week
High Society at this superior seaside resort town located on the Bay of Luebeck was already able to gaze in astonishment at the "Sailing contest off Travemuende" organized by the NRV in 1890. Starting from 1892 an impressive fleet including the Kaiser's yacht "Meteor" would rush down at the end of Kiel Week to compete here as well. Following North Sea Week ("Nordseewoche") and Kiel Week, there was now also a Travemuende Week to be organised and to attract yachts by its founder the NRV. In 1889 a race was announced to the even more distant Warnemuende.
Established by the NRV, Travemuende Week as Germany's second largest sailing event offers a charming programme in contrast to the preceeding mega-event at Kiel. Nowadays it is organized by an alliance of clubs that includes the NRV. Overall responsibility rests with the Luebeck Yacht Club (LYC).
