Regatta sailing

In 1868 the founders chose the name "Verein" (Association) rather than "Club" as an indication of their objectives. One of the club`s traditional roles ever since and one at which it excels has been that of a regatta organizer. The NRV initiated Kiel and Travemuende Weeks and is still engaged in these traditional events. With highly prestigious Atlantic regattas, Rolex Baltic Week or the Baltic Sprint Cup sponsored by renowned partners, the NRV sets the standards in the international sailing scene.

Active NRV members are supported to qualify through intensive sail training or given financial backing for international match races and in the NRV Olympic Team. Many regional regattas provide pleasant contrasts. By intensive cooperation or by filling presidential positions in sailing associations, the NRV maintains national interests and needs not fear international comparisons.

"Like the wind like the sails" is a proverb that teaches patience, whether in a mistral or while suffering a calm.
