With over 2.000 members, the NRV is the largest club within the German Sailing Association (Deutscher Segler-Verband).

NRV members have always felt a close allegiance to their club. One third of the members have belonged to the club for more than 25 years - and more than 100 members wear the golden club pin / club brooch after 50 years of membership or more. The age group between 36 and 50 is the strongest group representing one third of the membership. Among the six Honourary members are several Olympic champions.

Any active yachtsmen, or anyone wishing to learn how to sail or intending to foster the sport of sailing may become a member of the NRV. He or she will need two NRV members as sponsors to support their application for admission.
